leg press
Leg presses are among the most popular fitness machines both in the gym and at home. Leg presses are ideal for heavy leg training . In addition to the leg muscles that are primarily worked - thighs, lower legs and calves - many other muscles are stressed by the extremely high body tension. There are two types of leg presses: the classic 45 degree leg press and the Hackenschmidt leg press.
leg press 45 degrees
The classic 45 degree leg press is a classic strength training device that is often found in gyms. It is a great device for training the thigh muscles. The leg press is often used for training the calves. The feet are not positioned in the middle of the stem plate, but at the lower end in order to hit the calves particularly hard during the exercise. This exercise is also called the calf rocker. The movement sequence for the 45 degree leg press is relatively simple: the person exercising lies down on a padded seat/bed at a 45 degree angle and presses against the stem plate with their feet. In the starting position, the legs are bent and in the final position they are almost fully extended. When performing the exercise, make sure to perform it cleanly and slowly. The position of the feet should point slightly outwards, and the knees should also be pushed outwards. If you need support, take a look at the free ATX Fitness app or ask an experienced exerciser or fitness trainer.
Hackenschmidt leg press
The Hackenschmidt leg press is a variant of the classic leg press. It differs from the 45 degree leg press in that the trainee can perform the Hackenschmidt squats in addition to the leg press exercise. With the Hackenschmidt squat, the trainee stands on an inclined platform. The shoulders are clamped into cushions and the back is pressed flat against the provided back cushion. The weight is released by releasing a safety device/brake. The weight is then lowered slowly and cleanly until the knees are at a 90 degree angle. This position is usually held for a short time. The trainee now pushes the weight back up by stretching the legs until they reach the starting position. The number of repetitions depends entirely on the training plan; we recommend 8 to 12 repetitions. Squats with a leg press enable a clean, guided and safe exercise execution. The Hackenschmidt squats use different muscles than leg presses on the classic leg press. This combi version is what makes the Hackenschmidt leg press so popular.
Benefits of the Leg Press
The leg muscles are among the largest and strongest muscles in the human body, which is why they should be used regularly and particularly hard. Training with leg presses offers many advantages. By training with the leg press, we can not only strengthen our leg muscles, but also improve our posture and optimize the stability of the body's center of gravity. Strong leg muscles can also help to strengthen and stabilize our knee and hip joints, which can help prevent injuries related to these joints. In summary, training with leg presses is an important part of effective leg training. Whether you use the compact classic 45 degree leg press or the studio-certified Hackenschmidt leg press , there are many ways to train the leg muscles. In addition to the heavy training on the leg press, we recommend isolated training to be able to provide further muscle stimulation. The reason for this is the size and complexity of the leg muscles.
