Calf training with the calf machine
Want to get strong calves? With the help of a calf machine, nothing stands in the way of your calf training . Training your legs is at least as important as training your upper body. Calf training, like any other exercise, is part of a holistic fitness plan. Strong calf muscles can increase the stability and performance of your legs.
What are the calf muscles made of?
The calf muscles consist of two main muscles:
1. the large calf muscle Gastrocnemius
2. the deep calf muscle Soleus
The large calf muscle primarily provides strength and definition. The deep calf muscle is responsible for endurance and stability. For optimal calf training , you should challenge both muscles equally.
Calf exercises for calf training
There are now various effective exercise variations for training your calf muscles. The calf raise , also known as the toe stand , is a classic calf exercise for training your calf muscles at home or in the gym. In this exercise, you stand on your tiptoes and push yourself up, then slowly lower yourself back down. Ideally, your heels should not touch the floor while performing the exercise. To intensify the exercise, you can hold weights in both hands. Other easy exercises include stair climbing or jumping rope. Vary your calf training regularly so that you place different strains on your calves and not just on one side. Keep this step in mind when training your calf muscles.
Seated Calf Raise : Sit on the machine, place your feet on the footrest, and raise your heels as high as possible. Slowly lower your heels and repeat.
Smith Machine Calf Raises : Place the bar on your shoulders, stand on your toes, and raise your heels. Lower your heels with control and repeat.
