Power stations for multifunctional strength training at home or in the gym
The perfect solution for strength training at home – the multi-gym , a multifunctional training device. A multi-gym allows for a full-body workout in the smallest of spaces. Every imaginable strength exercise can be performed with these multi-gyms. Our multi-gyms are the ideal solution for completing a versatile workout in the smallest of spaces. If you want to design your home gym effectively and save space, our fitness equipment offers the perfect answer. Modern multi-gyms combine several training devices in one. This allows you to specifically train arms, legs, chest, biceps, and many other muscle groups. Each device offers different training options, so it's worth comparing the different models.
Types of power stations
There are different types of power stations that differ in their functionality and features. Here are some of the most common models:
Cable pull power station
A cable pulley power station is an extremely versatile power station that uses a cable pulley system, also known as a cable cross. With this type of power station, you can perform a wide variety of exercises for almost all muscle groups. The cable pulley allows for free movement and a personalized training experience. You can use various accessories such as handles , bars, or rowing handles to expand the variety of exercises. The advantage of a cable pulley power station is its flexibility and adaptability, which allows you to make training sessions varied and intense. We recommend the ATX® Cable Pull Corner Station .
Smith Machine
The Smith Machine is a very popular type of strength training station. Also known as a multi-press , the Smith Machine allows for controlled and linear exercise execution. The fixed barbell guide runs along two vertical steel shafts. Catch hooks, mounted along the steel shafts, serve as storage options. Our Smith Machines also feature pull-up bars and weight plate holders. The key advantage of the Smith Machine is its safety. The barbell can be placed in the catch hooks of the multi-press at any time. The linear and supported exercise execution makes training with the Smith Machine particularly suitable for beginners. Exercises such as squats and bench presses can be performed easily with a clean exercise execution. Multi-presses enable isolated strength training, allowing you to target specific muscle groups. We recommend the ATX® Multi-press 620 for training at home. For use in commercial facilities, we recommend the ATX® Multi-press MPX-730 – a Smith Machine designed for continuous load.
Multifunctional power station
A multifunctional power station is an all-in-one training device that combines various exercise options into a single station. This type of power station offers a wide variety of training options. In addition to classic exercises like pull-ups, bench presses, and squats, various exercises can be performed on the cable pulleys. These include exercises such as lat pulldowns, rowing, biceps, triceps, and shoulder exercises. Our top power stations, such as the ATX® Multigym GMX 2000 or ATX® Monster Full Functional Gym, can be equipped with leg extensions, allowing for leg press training. The advantage of a multifunctional power station is its space-saving design. Comprehensive full-body workouts can be performed with just one machine – perfect for a home gym!
Advantages of a power station
I. Full-body workout : With a weight station, you can train all major muscle groups. Whether you're performing heavy-duty basic exercises or isolated training, the right weight station makes it possible.
II. Stability and Safety: Power stations are sturdily constructed and offer safety during training. Due to the heavy weight of some machines, they can withstand heavy loads, reducing the risk of injury.
III. Individual adjustment options : Most power stations offer a variety of training options. Classic training stations include pull-ups, multi-press machines, and cable crossovers. The cable crossover, in particular, offers many individual adjustment options. The cable pulleys can be locked into various holes and can therefore be used for lat pulldowns, biceps and triceps training, as well as shoulder and leg exercises. Weight blocks/plug-in weights allow the training weight to be individually adjusted to your training level. Many multi-stations also offer the option of training freely on a rack. This allows exercises such as squats, bench presses, and shoulder presses to be performed with a barbell.
IV. Compactness : Compared to a variety of individual machines, a multi-gym requires less space. They are therefore particularly suitable for training at home.
What should you look for when buying a power station?
When purchasing a power station, you should pay attention to the following points:
1. Stability and quality : Pay attention to a solid construction and high-quality materials as well as a high weight to ensure long-term use.
2. Functionality : Consider which exercises you prefer and whether the selected power station offers the necessary features. Look for adjustable seat and back cushions, different grip options, and a sufficient selection of weights.
3. Space requirements : Measure the available space in your training area to ensure that the power station will fit there sufficiently.
4. Ease of Use : Make sure the power station is easy and intuitive to use and meets your needs. Check whether adjustments such as weight changes and seat adjustments can be made to your satisfaction.
Power station exercises
A multi-station offers a variety of exercise options. Here are some examples:
1. Bench press : All types of bench presses can be performed with our multi-gyms. All you need is a suitable weight bench. We recommend a weight bench that can be adjusted to either negative or positive, allowing for negative, flat, and incline bench presses. Depending on the station, the exercises can be performed with a multi-press or freely on a weight rack. The bench press primarily trains the pectoral muscles.
2. Lat pulldown : Sit in the designated lat pulldown position and grasp the lat pulldown bar of the multi-gym. Pull the bar toward your chest to work your latissimus dorsi and upper back.
3. Rowing : Grab the rowing handle attached to the cable pulleys of the power station and pull it toward you. This exercise particularly targets the lower back and arm muscles.
4. Bicep curls and tricep extensions : Grab the curl bar on the weight machine and bend your arms to train your biceps muscles. For example, use a tricep bar for tricep extensions; a tricep rope is also popular.
Why should you buy a power station?
