Heat therapy and cold therapy
In physiotherapy, targeted heat and cold therapies are used to treat physical ailments and injuries. This type of therapy utilizes both methods to achieve different goals, depending on the individual needs of the patient. In our shop, you will find high-quality products specifically developed for professional use in healthcare facilities.
When heat therapy is used
By applying heat specifically to painful areas of the body, blood circulation is stimulated and muscle tension is loosened, which can relieve pain. Heat therapy can also be very beneficial for conditions such as stiff joints, arthritis, and physical limitations. For long-term relief of aches and symptoms, continuous application of heat may be advisable. However, this depends on the type of injury or (chronic) illness.
When you should use cold therapy
Therapists use cold to reduce inflammation and swelling. This type of therapy also helps relieve pain. The use of cold is particularly recommended for acute and temporary injuries, such as bruises, sprains, strains, and inflammation. For this reason, cold therapy, unlike heat therapy, is usually used temporarily to alleviate acute injury pain.
