What is a power rack?
A power rack is a robust piece of strength training equipment used in both home and gym settings. It consists of a sturdy metal frame with four steel posts connected by crossbars. A pull-up bar is often included to expand the range of exercises.
Differences between power racks
The main differences are height, footprint, weight, and load capacity. Our ATX power racks are available in compact models for small spaces (500 and 600 series) and large, commercial versions (700 series). The hole pattern system allows for precise adjustment of accessories such as J-hooks and emergency racks. A power rack is truly versatile and is particularly suitable for strength training and weightlifting.
The vertical steel posts of the ATX® Power Racks feature a hole pattern system that allows for precise adjustment of accessories such as J-hooks and emergency shelves. With a center-to-center spacing of 5 cm, each attachment can be precisely adjusted to the desired height. The racks feature a satin-gloss, powder-coated finish for a high-quality finish.
Why should you buy an ATX power rack?
A power cage is especially worthwhile if you regularly engage in strength training and value exercise variety and safety in your strength training. Since such a rack also functions as a "mechanical spotter," it's also particularly suitable if you want to intensively train basic exercises like squats, bench presses, and the like safely and at your limit, alone and without a training partner . Therefore, a power rack is ideal not only for home gyms but also for commercial fitness clubs and gyms. Here are some of the most important reasons to purchase a power rack :
1. Versatility : Thanks to the numerous optional attachment options, there are virtually no limits to your creativity when it comes to strength exercises. In addition to basic barbell exercises, you can also perform isolated exercises. The power rack not only allows you to train all muscle groups, but above all provides the foundation for safe and effective strength training with free weights. This is especially true for basic exercises performed with a barbell. These exercises form the core of any training plan aimed at building muscle and strength, or improving performance. Isolated exercises are often used in addition to basic exercises to push the targeted muscle to its performance limit. These exercises are often performed with a cable machine. Discover our accessories for the ATX Power Racks! Here are some exercise examples:
I. Incline, negative, flat bench press
II. Squats, front squats
III. Lunges, Bulgarian Split Squats
IV. Deadlifts, barbell rows
V. Pull-ups, dips
2. Safety : With the help of emergency shelves, spotter arms and storage options for barbells, the power rack ensures safety during strength training. The shelves can be adjusted in height quickly and easily using the hole pattern system. This means that every athlete can find their ideal setting and train safely. In addition, the power racks offer stability thanks to their solid construction and steel structure, which is an absolute priority in strength training. The more solid the rack, the higher the load capacity. The ATX Power Rack 510 , our smallest rack, can support a load of up to 500 kg and our largest rack - ATX® Power Rack PRX-780 up to 1000 kg.
Why should you choose an ATX® Power Rack?
The ATX® racks were designed specifically for professional athletes and are frequently used in fitness studios or for home training. Extremely stable, innovatively designed, highly functional, and modularly expandable – these are the advantages offered by the ATX® power racks. German engineering – the highest quality meets the highest demands!
Power racks are subjected to enormous stresses in everyday training, so product quality plays a key role. The massive impact and pressure loads that are commonplace in heavy strength training pose major challenges for the power rack. That's why ATX ® power racks impress with their extremely stable construction, which is further optimized through the use of extra-reinforced gusset plates and high-strength connecting screws. This unique product quality ensures that ATX ® power racks remain absolutely torsion-free and break-proof, even under continuous, heavy maximum loads. ATX ® racks are designed with a significantly higher load reserve than all other manufacturers in this construction class and therefore offer significantly greater protection against material fatigue and breakage! Generously designed base frames also promise maximum stability and high tipping resistance. The rubberized feet ensure a particularly non-slip stand.
All ATX power racks have been rigorously tested for durability and wear resistance. Each model has a safety certification .
Certification: EN 20957 I.II.IV – S
All equipment with the "S" certification is professional-grade racks suitable for use in gyms. They offer incredible quality, durability, and stability.
Certification: EN 20957 I.II.IV – H
All devices with the "H" certification are approved for home use or home gyms and are certified racks. Due to their size and load capacity, they are ideal for training at home.
Power rack with cable pull
The ultimate addition to the power rack is the cable pulley. No other accessory enables as many isolated exercise options as the cable pulley extension. Pulley points from above and below allow for lat pulldown and rowing exercises, as well as guided bicep curls, tricep extensions, and shoulder or leg exercises. The guided range of motion ideally contracts the targeted muscle group, creating an optimal muscle stimulus. Using different grips, muscle groups can be re-triggered, thus promoting muscle growth. Smooth running characteristics lead to a clean and effective training experience. motion sports recommends the following power racks with cable pulleys:

Find the right power rack for your home
What challenges do you face when setting up a home gym? Space is often limited, but the training area should be used to its maximum functionality. Therefore, a multifunctional power rack is often the preferred choice – especially if the focus is on free training with a barbell. The primary criteria for selecting the right rack are height, width, and depth. When it comes to height, the ceiling height must definitely be taken into account so that pull-ups can be performed without obstructions. When it comes to width, not only the rack itself but also the barbell bar must be considered. The Olympic barbell is 220 cm long, so a minimum width of 2.60 to 2.80 cm should be planned. But don't worry; if the Olympic bar is too long, we also offer shorter models. Depth probably plays a decisive role in very few cases. The so-called "cage dimension" of the power rack is important to consider here. The larger this area, the more freedom of movement the athlete has in the rack itself.
For strength training at home, it's essential that power racks are multifunctional. For this reason, we recommend every athlete consider their own training preferences before purchasing. How do I want to use the power rack? How do I plan to expand the rack? What accessories do I want to use? If these questions can be answered, nothing stands in the way of a flexible and functional home gym. Find some of the most popular accessories in our next section.
